Being ALIVE in my everyday life

Being ALIVE has a very special meaning for me. I couldn’t name a certain point in life or an event where everything changed all of a sudden,  it was and is rather a gradual process combining awareness, mindfulness, curiosity and challenge. Being ALIVE is a continuous journey, with a fresh start each morning, like living a new life every day.

Being ALIVE means to me that I am into something fully at the moment I do it. It means I am there in the present, no matter what it is. To be in this kind of meditative state as I perform some profane task and kind of everyday activity, helps me being ALIVE. It just means to do everything with passion and enjoying it, whenever I am doing it, wherever I am doing it! There is beauty in (almost) everything!

Being ALIVE means to mindfully inspire people, by whatever I say or however I act. I always keep in mind that I can be a role model through every word I say and every action I take. Through this I can transform everything I do into a positive guiding flame, which keeps me and others alive as long as it burns.

Being ALIVE means moving into uncharted territories, it means I try something new every day, a new way to get to a place I go regularly, a new recipe, a new author or blog I haven’t read before etc. By this, I add some new excitement into my life. I even strive for something bigger at least once a year like visiting a new country or culture or try something like skydiving or going on a spiritual pilgrimage. By creating new experiences thinking out of the box happens naturally and I become more ALIVE than I ever could imagine. I just can’t stop envisioning all that‘s to explore out there!

Being ALIVE means to make the slightest difference out there I can imagine, but still make a difference. I strive for new insights, I am excited by a global game that is changing, I want to take the road less traveled. I tell myself each day: “Let’s don’t wait passively for things to change, just do”. In my opinion, we are caring too less for each other, so I show people that I care, by helping strangers and friends or supporting projects where people are involved who are not as fortunate as I am. The media tells me to be materialistic so I just go out into nature for a weekend without any status symbol of modern communication and I have ultimately banned TV from my apartment at all. Advertising tells me to buy more products to be happy but I actually buy less and get happier every day. A “social image” might tell me that I can only be a joyful person with a thousand “friends” but I connect to the few people who do make the difference and whom I can trust. Furthermore I even enjoy the bliss of occasional aloneness, instead of being surrounded by people all the time. By this, being ALIVE means to take the right decisions for myself, no matter what my surroundings do tell me.

Being ALIVE means to believe in my dreams, to believe that I can and will do everything possible to make them to come true, even if they change, even if there are difficulties, just stay true to what I am dreaming of, to what I want to become reality for myself. And by being ALIVE through my dreams, I have the willpower and energy to start and pursue the projects which are necessary to make those dreams real. Even if the road is rocky or winding, being ALIVE means to take it with dignity and all my strength and passion.

Being ALIVE means to be curios and exploring. Especially travelling always gives me that feeling. I have to trust strangers in places I have never been, I own nothing there but myself being surrounded by the sea and the sky or trees or concrete in the city. Through this I am myself in the most essential way possible and by taking the adventures I connect to myself even more and become more ALIVE than ever. But being ALIVE also means to come home from a voyage and experience all the comfort and familiarity of the surroundings I call home.

Maybe most of all, being ALIVE means to me to see the bigger picture. I usually experience this while watching the stars on a clear night. By seeing the universe from this perspective my problems, my challenges I have to take become indefinitely small. The same goes for me while watching citylights from a distance, I then realize how many others are out there, who I could possibly come across in life, who could have something inspiring or interesting to say. It reminds me of how many possibilities I have. So being ALIVE also means to be grateful for all that is out there, for all I can experience and for all the options life offers me.
In addition, being ALIVE means to me to accept life as a whole with all the ups and downs. When I win, beat a challenge, finish a project, have fun with people, push me over my boundaries it is easy to feel ALIVE. But also when I fail, I lose something or someone, I am lonely, I have to admit that I am not there achieving something I can feel ALIVE through the lesson this situation teaches me and how this is getting  me closer to what I want to achieve and who I really am. Basically, I can describe my attitude with the quote: “I will love the light for it shows me the way, yet I will endure the darkness because it shows me the stars.”
Being ALIVE is following that way and reaching for that stars all in one...
